New Coaching Packages & Prices for 2022

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

Over the past six months, I've had an eye-opening experience. I have come to discover that offering a single coaching session for one hour is a disservice to trauma survivors. Trauma runs deep. One hour is simply not remotely helpful, nor appropriate to heal trauma.

The truth about abuse and trauma is that it has a long-term impact. It is not only impacts our mental health, but it also effects are physical health, our brain, our trauma response, relationships, finances, spiritual health, and every facet of our lives. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk sums it up perfectly. He said, "Traumatized people chronically feel unsafe inside their bodies: The past is alive in the form of gnawing interior discomfort. Their bodies are constantly bombarded by visceral warning signs, and, in an attempt to control these processes, they often become expert at ignoring their gut feelings and in numbing awareness of what is played out inside. They learn to hide from their selves." He goes onward to state, "Trauma victims cannot recover until they become familiar with and befriend the sensations in their bodies. Being frightened means that you live in a body that is always on guard. Angry people live in angry bodies. The bodies of child-abuse victims are tense and defensive until they find a way to relax and feel safe. In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them. Physical self-awareness is the first step in releasing the tyranny of the past. Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives."

Another point to consider is that most people who are in therapy or counseling would NEVER expect to be healed in one hour or a single therapy session. The average person is in therapy for six months to one year, if not even longer.

Certified Trauma Recovery Coaching is no different. Whether you choose therapy or coaching, it will require time, patience, commitment, and realistic expectations.
