Bloom from the Dark

I am an imperfect, yet brave warrior. I survived 55+ years of intense childhood and adult abuse. I want to bring hope, peace, empathy, and healing to our world. One trauma survivor at a time.

According to PTSD United, “70% of adults in the U.S. have experienced some type of traumatic event at least once in their lives. This equates to approximately 223.4 million people who struggle with trauma.”

Up to 20% of these people go on to develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As of today, this means that 44.7 million people are battling PTSD. An estimated 1 out of 9 women develops PTSD, which is twice as likely as men.

I am a passionate Certified Trauma Recovery Coach who is also a trauma survivor. I have a BIG heart for survivors. I offer trauma-informed, safe space for women to heal their trauma on their own timeline.

A lotus flower is a metaphor for trauma recovery. The lotus flower symbolizes inner strength, purity, spiritual awakening, and wisdom. It takes courage and strength to keep growing from the darkness and emerge into the light.

The conditions that produce the lotus flower are dark and harsh, but it never gives up. Despite the fierce opposition and darkness, the lotus flower blooms most beautifully from the deepest mud. It is a positive reminder that just like the lotus flower, you can break free from your trauma wounds to wonderfully flourish.

There is no single pathway to the trauma recovery. Instead, there are many different holistic modalities to pave the way from barely surviving to fully thriving. Similar to a garden, healing trauma requires removing the weeds in your life that keep you stuck. An old mindset. False beliefs. Toxic relationships. Physical and emotional pain that are blocking you from fully healing.

Together, we can weed out what no longer serves you. With nurturing, insight, and practical tools, you can embrace your true essence, which brings you back to wholeness.

While I am not a therapist, nor do I give advice, I am more like a gentle guide, mentor, and teacher. We are equals. In harmony, I walk beside you in a nonjudgmental way, as I offer you practical tools to process and heal your trauma.

The Body & Mind Connection:

According to psychiatrist, researcher, educator, and author of The Body Keeps the Score, Bessel van der Kolk said, “Trauma is not just an event that took place in the past. It is also the imprint left by that experience on the mind, brain, and body.”

Trauma causes a disconnection. You disconnect to your body, mind, and soul. You disconnect because your pain hurts badly. If you’ve experienced this, you are not alone.

There is a body/mind connection to trauma. Science has proven that it isn’t only in the brain. Trauma is emmeshed within the DNA; epigenetics and cellular memory. This is why recovering from trauma requires getting back into touch with yourself.

Trauma survivors may experience medical conditions, physical pain, flashbacks, triggers, emotional dysregulation, nightmares, insomnia, brain fog, memory loss, anxiety, auto-immune conditions, depression, hypervigilance, dissociation, and a variety of common reactions to trauma, such as the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response.

Despite the unspeakable things that you have suffered, there is hope for healing, happiness, and peace of mind. Healing your trauma means that you reconnect to yourself; physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We will take a deep dive into your belief system, perception, and determine what is no longer serving your and your highest good.

As a Certified Trauma Recovery Coach, I work with women, one on one, in private coaching sessions to help them gently unpack their trauma. It’s therapeutic and empowering when you give voice to your inner child. It’s like you are coming home to yourself; beautifully blossoming!

"I found my coaching sessions with Dana Arcuri very helpful. As a childhood trauma survivor, I have had extensive therapy, ministry, and coaching throughout the years to be healed from its devastating impact (psychologically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually). Surprisingly, the residual effects of trauma can also impact the survivor's finances years later. If you were abused, you question your intrinsic value and feeling "worthy" to be financially successful.Dana was so helpful with encouraging me to use daily positive affirmations to say aloud to renew my mind and to replace negative thinking. She exhorted me to push past my comfort zone to go a step further with a revenue-generating idea that she and I brainstormed together. She had creative, inspired ideas for this. The ideas resulted in a live, local speaking event, which was successful and so fun for all attending. Dana is faith-filled, encouraging, motivating, brilliant, and professional. She is a joy to work with in coaching and I highly recommend her." ~ Beth J.

"I have prayed and asked God to really help me find a solution. I have really needed help. It feels like your help is what I have been  praying for. Thank for your support Dana. I am truly grateful for you." ~ Mirna G.
