Recently, I've been experiencing this. Despite my own will to have the desire to go in one direction, I've learned through my past mistakes to always listen to that soft voice. It may be a whisper. It may nudge you to remain still. It may warn you to avoid this little trap from the enemy. It may prompt you to pray about it.
Through the years, I've gained valuable insight about this. Always trust your gut. Understand that it's God speaking through to you. That He wants to shelter and protect you from harm. It may not always be a loud boom or thunder. It can be subtle signs that keep telling you to not step onto a specific path. Or to not do something.
Doors may close. Repeatedly. Take it as a clear sign that this is not the right time or the right plan that God has for you. Most importantly of all, ask the Lord for wisdom, clarity, and a better understanding. Seek His will in all you do. Trust that when He says "No," it's for a good reason. As your heavenly Father, He's looking out for you and your best interest.
Today, I shout with joy in gratitude for all of the times God has spoken to me with these gut feelings! He's probably spared me from mishaps more than I even know. How amazing that He created us with this little antenna that immediately alerts us to know when something isn't quite right.
We need not to second guess God or ourselves. Instead, tune into this special gut intuition. When in doubt, ask the Lord for a confirmation. Have faith that His way is always the safest choice to follow. For He will never lead us astray.
"Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her." Proverbs 3:13-15 (NLT)
