While the Bible tells us that these battles are actually in the spiritual realm, it still feels personal to me. Losing our furry friends and having relationships abruptly end for unknown reasons hurts. Being sick prevents us from living the life and dreams we desire. If we are not well, it may keep us from living our passionate purpose. Not to mention, facing one road block after another is frustrating.
Today, I am reminded that even though we may endure a season of suffering, it does not mean it's the end of our world. It only means that we reached a bend in the road. Although it may not have been anticipated, our setbacks can actually be a setup for a come back. A time for renewal. Expansion. Transitioning into a new phase filled with personal, professional, and spiritual growth.
I love this inspiring quote by Henry Ford who said, "Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though sometimes it's hard to realize that. For the world was built to develop character, and we must learn that the setbacks and grieves which we endure help us in our marching onward."
Despite a bend in the road, I am going to press on. I am not giving up on my health, my goal to launch my book, and most certainly, I'm not giving up on God. How about you? Has there been a bend in your road? Perhaps, you are struggling with circumstances out of your control?
If so, I pray that you can take every negative experience and transform it into valuable wisdom to learn from it. To not let bad times or events knock you off your feet permanently, but to get back up, brush yourself off, and to keep on walking in faith. Today, have the courage to hold onto hope. Trust that through ever dark storm there is a rainbow to a brighter future.
"Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off." Proverbs 24:14 (ESV)
