Reflections on life, health, faith, and being true to yourself...

Faith Doesn't Require Dressing Frumpy

Being a woman of faith does not mean that we must wear frumpy, baggy clothes or hide the body God gave us. No matter what race, size, or height, God didn't create us to feel ashamed of who we are, including our bodies. The Bible says, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;" (1st Corinthians 6:19 NIV)

Keeping that in mind, why do women of faith let themselves go? How come so many females in our churches stop taking good care of their health and appearance? They have the wrong mindset that being a woman of faith means being dowdy. Why do they allow the enemy to bound them in shame to believe his lies? It's a trap and you shouldn't fall for it.

Just because you are a mom, wife, or Christian does not mean you must give up being a woman. If we took a little bit of time, we would feel so much healthier, invigorated, and feminine. It's not a vanity issue. Rather, it's an issue of respect for who you are and who Christ made you to be.

You are a woman. You wear many hats as a daughter, sister, mom, wife, and grandmother. You are a strong woman of bold faith. Those are good things. Don't put them on hold because you are afraid to be true to yourself or fear men looking at you. (God will deal with them in His own way and it's not for you to concern yourself with someone else's lust or sin.)

Today, I challenge you to make a commitment to take better care of your health, body, and appearance. To trust that you are worthy in God's eyes. He created you to live a vibrant full life of abundance. Appreciate your magnificent qualities. Acknowledge them. Value them. Own them. Most importantly, get a crystal clear image of yourself and each of your special gifts. Accept and embrace how Christ designed you by releasing your inner sparkle so you may shine brilliantly.

I agree, Dana! We are to be the "aroma of Christ" to everyone we meet...not just smelling nice, but being attractive in every possible way. This should also "smell" like the fruit of the Spirit within us...love, joy, peace, patience, etc.
