Reflections on life, health, faith, and being true to yourself...

Do You Have a Teachable Spirit?

Do you have a teachable spirit? Or do you usually reject hearing or learning something new? I’m not referring to an academic setting, such as college or the workplace. More so, I mean real life within your daily routine.

What I've discovered on social media, especially with entrepreneurs, leaders, and Christians is an unteachable spirit cloaked in a heavy spirit of pride. For a variety of reasons, some of these people who are actually very educated and intelligent are filled with arrogance.

They think they know it all. They think their way is the only way. They don't want to change. They refuse to hear anything different than what they believe or practice.

On social media, this has led to disputes, conflicts, and division. I've experienced it myself regarding topics involving politics, religion, health, and medicine. There is a lack of listening, understanding another person's viewpoint, and having a willingness to learn from others.

What has happened to peacefully disagreeing? Or being open to realizing that there's room for change, for different opinions, and we can learn more from another persons real life experiences?

While I understand most of these people are educated, have college degrees, coaching certifications, and professional credentials, I can't wrap my head around those who outright
refuse to listen. People who do not want to hear something new, don't care to learn anything that they haven't already been taught, or they reject information that is unfamiliar to them.

At the heart of the matter is not only a lack of a teachable spirit, but a lack of humility. They are not willing to grow, to learn, and to look outside the box. They reject not only what you say, but they reject God's Word.

How can a believer say they have faith in Christ, yet not accept or agree with what the Bible says? Either we believe or disbelieve. Otherwise, it's a contradiction to say one thing, but believe the opposite thing. Pure hypocrisy.

Of course, there are various interpretations of scriptures. However, some verses are straight forward. There are instances in which there is no denying what God calls us to do or to not do. An example is the Ten Commandments.

Let's dig a little deeper into an unteachable spirit as it pertains to God's Word. How I view it is directly from my own experience within our world. It's based on my live and learn moments where I've grown my faith in the dark. A sacred wandering to walk in my heavenly Maker's truth.

As an author, speaker, and wellness advocate, my passionate purpose and mission is to offer healing, health, and hope. To be transparent when I share my rock bottom story of nearly losing my life to mind-warping prescription drugs.

I have learned and grown the most during and after my hellish ordeal battling Fibromyalgia, depression, and toxic medicine. There is wisdom in medical mishaps. There's grace in my messy places.

In November, 2010, a near death experience opened up my eyes to see things in a new light. It has led me to read, research, and gain insight. I've gone above and beyond the call of duty to help build awareness about pharmaceutical drugs as well as holistic wellness.

It's become a mission that I'm passionate about. To be a voice for the voiceless. To give hope to the hopeless. To touch other hurting lives in such a positive way.

I didn't choose this mission, nor did I choose to suffer years of wicked withdrawals from toxic medicine. God placed this mission onto my heart eight years ago. I have merely been a vessel used to share an important message. (Harvest of Hope, my memoir, shares details about the entire ordeal and how I healed naturally.)

Sometimes, it can be frustrating when people refuse to hear credible facts pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry. Or they don't want or care to hear my story. When stubborn people reject or minimize my own reality and the truth about what happened.

Some folks are not open or willing to understand the dangers behind potent chemicals. They believe their doctor must know what's best. They cannot fathom medical malpractice or innocent lives being harmed at the hands of a negligent physician. Yet, it goes on every single day.

Fear is at the root of it. They fear what happened to me could happen to them. And the truth is that it very well can happen to anyone, including you.

Hosea 4:6 (NLT), which states, "My people are destroyed because they have not learned. You were not willing to learn. So I am not willing to have you be My religious leader. Since you have forgotten the Law of your God, I also will forget your children."

Woe to those who resist learning. Woe to those with pride and a haughty spirit. Woe to those who reject God's living Word. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil. (Isaiah 5:20)

As a woman of faith and wellness advocate who takes the Bible serious, I will not remain silent about the pharmaceutical prescriptions potentially causing harm. People can deny it. Ignore it. Resist it. Say it isn't true. Or become enraged by documented facts that I share, but I will continue building awareness about it.

Did you know that the Greek word for sorcery is "pharmakon?" The definition for pharmakon is spell-giving potion, a druggist, a pharmacist, a poisoner. Simply stated, sorcery stands for pharmaceutical.

According to the Bible, pharmaceutical means the practice of witchcraft or the use of poison. Do not just take my word for it. Open up your own Bible and do your research. It's in your best interest to know and understand what scriptures say and what it means.

This is referenced four times in the Bible. Its amazing that all four times drugs are mentioned in the New Testament are in the book dealing with future events, especially the end times, the Rapture and the Tribulation.

In Revelations 21:8 and 22:15, the Greek words “pharmakon” is referred to as a spell-giving drug or potion. I have no doubt, the drug trade of our day is referred to here and is connected with Satanism, which is widespread in these last days.

Revelations 21:8 (KJV) warns, “
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death."

Scriptures make it clear that the use of poisons for medicine is sorcery. Very plainly, God's Word tells us that true medicine is leaves. The common name used for medical leaves is herbs. Psalms 104:14 (ESV) reveals, "You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth."

This reminds me of Hippocrates that says, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Over the past ten years, through my personal experience, I've come to see for myself that herbal medicine, essential oils, and plant-based, pure ingredients are a healing balm for practically every ailment. Looking back on my wellness journey, I'm thankful that I had a teachable spirit. I am grateful that God opened doors for me to learn new information and to practice holistic alternatives.

God saved my life! I wouldn't have become an author, speaker, or wellness advocate had He not given me a second chance or healed me. May this be an encouragement for you, especially if you're battling physical or emotional illness.

As a woman of faith, I believe God's warning in the Bible about medicine is not a fluke. His Word is truth. It's there for a good reason.

We need to take God at His Word. It's purpose is to protect us. To teach us. To avoid dangerous chemicals. To consider gentle, plant-based options.

Today, I pray that you are open and willing to learn new, credible facts. That you can realize learning is a lifetime opportunity to improve your life, relationships, faith, career, and health. Wisdom is power. It can empower you to lead the joyful, thriving life that God destined for you.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
