Sometimes we never know how much we need God, until the rug is slipped out from under our feet. We may be forging ahead in life with our passionate dreams and goals when suddenly unexpected trials come our way. For some it's a bump in the road. For others, it's a gigantic crater that brings our life to a screeching halt. In the blink of a second, our life is forever changed...
This is what happened to my twenty-five year old niece, Stephanie Churchel. As an ambitious go-getter, she recently graduated from college, started a new job, and moved into her first home. Life was going smoothly, until Memorial Day weekend when she was in a freak accident.
Stephanie and her friends were enjoying a fun day boating. The sun was shining and it was a gorgeous day in Pittsburgh, PA. In the evening, out of nowhere, the anchor of the boat let loose and hit Stephanie in the face. As you can imagine, the impact was great and took everyone by surprise. No doubt, this dramatically changed the course of Stephanie's life in a matter of seconds.
Upon reaching the emergency room and being assessed for injuries, Stephanie underwent maxillofacial surgery for a shattered check bone, broken jaw, and eye socket. While we anticipate a full recovery, the healing process can be arduous and slow.
On Tuesday, Stephanie was discharged from the hospital in which she is resting at home and unable to work. Her medical insurance has an enormous co-pay and does not cover her missed work. Two of Stephanie's friends have created a fundraiser to help for this financial hardship. I am reaching out to ask for your support in three ways:
1) PRAYER - Please join me in prayer for my niece. We know that where two or more gather together in prayer there is so much power. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely appreciate if you could add Stephanie to your daily prayer. Also, if your church has a prayer chain, please add her to your list.
2) DONATE - In effort to offset the major financial debt incurred from the hospital, surgery, medications, and lack of work, please consider supporting Stephanie at the gofundme link. No amount is too small or too big. We appreciate your generosity.
3) PAY IT FORWARD - It does not take a village to spread a message of hope. All it takes is one person with a willing heart to pay it forward by making a positive difference in the lives of others. Will you pay it forward by sharing my blog post and/or the gofundme link to your Facebook page, website, or social media?
Although we may never fully understand why bad things happen to good people, we can trust that God can transform a negative situation into a blessing in disguise. What was meant for evil can be turned around for good in which God will receive all glory.
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support!!!
