With New Year's Day approaching, I anticipate what is ahead. Rather than make traditional resolutions for 2013, which the average person rarely keeps, I prefer to create an inspirational theme. One powerful word to sum up the coming year.
Mine is SIMPLIFY: To make less complex or complicated; make plainer or easier: to simplify a problem.
To live our God-given purpose we must reduce distractions, including clutter, confusion, and chaos. To live up to our full potential, we simplify our lives by focusing on God who is placed in the center. All area's that are unfruitful need to be trimmed away...as in pruning a garden so we may flourish. Friends, our Heavenly Father created each of us to blossom and flourish. It is our birthright.
When I asked my Facebook friends what their 2013 inspirational theme is, here are the creative responses I received:
Graduate, Live, Intentional, Fancify (Not sure if this is a word, but it sounds cool!),
Restore, Discipline, 'Just Do The Right Thing', 'Walk By Faith', Motivation, Determination,
Gratitude, Consistent, Unstoppable, Courage, Focus, Relax, and Enjoy.
After pondering what these words personally mean to me, I relate to each one. While I may not be GRADUATING this year, I aim to seek higher goals. I wish to go through life being completely ALIVE...not just getting by or barely surviving. Truly living out my purpose in an INTENTIONAL way.
Realistically, the word, 'FANCIFY' does not exist in the dictionary. When I googled it, I discovered 'fancy', which means to require skill to perform; intricate; ornamented or decorative; arising in the imagination. As an author and passionate writer, I most definitely need skill to express myself and an imagination is essential.
My upcoming book, Harvest of Hope: Living Victoriously Through Adversity shares my COURAGE, DETERMINATION, and UNSTOPPABLE faith to overcome unfathomable trials. As I wrote about my painful battles, it took much DISCIPLINE and FOCUS, especially living with ADHD and chronic pain.
Yet God called me to WALK BY FAITH on a CONSISTENT basis. He provided me COURAGE to DO THE RIGHT THING and not give up hope. His powerful strength helped MOTIVATE me to surrender all. By doing so, my Heavenly Father RESTORED me from darkness and despair to living victoriously in Him.
My spiritual journey taught me TO RELAX and ENJOY my blessings. To dwell on the positive and have GRATITUDE for all God has brought me through. Not by my strength...only by the Lords. His love and faith endures forever.
May you have a healthy, prosperous, productive, inspiring, and blessed new year!

Dana, This is a great post. I know that by making our life more simple, we can probably connect to God on a deeper level. I believe my word is RESTORE and I hope that God is going to do amazing things in my life by restoring lost relationships as well as other areas that have been LOST to the enemy. I loved this post and glad that your FB friends inspired you.
Angie,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and comment. I love the word RESTORE! It means:
1. To return to an original or former condition
2. To bring back to health, good spirits, etc.
3. To return (something lost, stolen, etc.) to its owner
4. To reintroduce or re-enforce to restore discipline
Sounds like a great theme for 2013! May the new year bring you healing, strength, and joy!
Warmly,
Dana

Dana, what a great idea! I think it will help us focus on "being" rather than "doing", which I believe is just a distraction from God's purpose for us. With your copyright, how does sharing your blog work? Also wanted to share something that helped me for most of this last year...
